Homo sapiens, the human that is wise
So wise that all of earth shall despise
The world shall suffer for their visions of wonder
Is this the kind of life you had always pondered?
The constant curiosity and questioning of nature
Thinking they can improve the way the earth was created
They will no longer die from the cold of the night
But the cold of the heart in their enemy's fight
Did it start when a mother left her young,
When people killed those who didn't speak the native tongue?
Did it start when a man abused his wife,
Taking the meaning out of love and life?
When all the people worshipped a loving God
The church used violence and science was looked down upon
But when it broke free it took religion with it
Leaving the world in a materialistic, mercenary spinning
Now Homo sapiens, the human that is wise
So wise that all of earth shall despise
Is left in foolishness, damned with a destructive touch
Will they ever admit the world in its original was good enough?
