A Lifeless Sight

A Lifeless Sight

A Poem by The Nameless
"

A poem I wrote when I was 12, slightly edited. About an empty landscape... the "lifeless sight"

"

The sun is setting
The scene is getting
Colder by the second

The fields are dry
So clouds so high
The rain dries up on its way

The clouds are golden heavens

Too high to ever reach

With dainty shades of gray
And bluish shadows that seek

That seek the gray and thunderous rains
That only with last summer came
Through all the times, it's very rare
To find the clouds dark, they never dare

The lifeless scene will never move
Hardly even change
The dainty drizzle will softly soothe
The endlessly drying day

The colourless vegetation that gives way
As you walk across, they limply lay
Across the fields golden grass
With sunset the colour of brass

These endless fields stretch for miles on end
No message from outside could ever be sent
The deserted plains, no a tree in sight
You are alone, no one can hear your plight

No more protected by the rusty fence
Which gave way due to old age, hence
This world is so old and neglected
When will a new king be elected?

Not a breeze you feel
And when you kneel
The cracks and erosion
Would at last be revealed

Where am I in this lifeless world?
No entrance or exit to escape
Escape? There's no way I will
In this deadly, deathly lake

And slowly from my dreams I wake
And my colourless vision starts to shake
I find myself in my loving world
In my bed, in my blankets curled

Mourn I would never
Pity I might
For the souls trapped
In this lifeless sight
