The Sea

A poem about the sea and why I love it so much

The waves wash over me and carry me away
They calm me down with their deep sway
It drowns away all my fears
And washes away all my tears

For the waves, I am not afraid
Even though death is never delayed
I know I shouldn't come this way
But I just couldn't stay away

The wind is calm, the sun is kind
It takes everything else off my mind
The sky is clear, there's no one near
In this endlessness I'm the only one here

I stare and stare, I am hypnotized
By the endless patterns of water and sky
Here is only truth, no lies
Honest beauty no one can describe

I need to leave, to return home
Return to all my loved ones
But I know we won't be long apart
For this is where I left my heart
