We all want a clean slate
A new chance, a new day
A chance we use to change
To avoid unnecessary pain
But when the clean slate clouds up
Our new found hope is brought to a halt
We think that we are not meant to change
It is not in our power, not in our range
But if the change is worth the fight
Then try and try with all your might
And if the change still refuses to occur
The change will be the one you prefer
In truth, we change every day
More than we ever see or can say
This is small and slow a change
So be patient and kind with your clean slate
