Paper BullyA Poem by thenakedverseThe blank sheet of paper taunts me Like the bully he is, Gloating in his nakedness and Mocking my attempts to confront him. He raises a single eyebrow, Daring me to pierce his skin with lead. But I know how this will end. I’ll hold my tongue as he claims another victory. He’ll leave the scene unscathed And I’ll look away in shame, Only later imagining all the things I could’ve said. I’ll sharpen every pencil Thinking next time will be different. I’ll practice all my puns and witty metaphors, Pretending to build up some nerve, All the while wishing Mom hadn’t taught me that To take the high road is to walk away. © 2012 thenakedverseFeatured Review
