I Saw the Sign

I Saw the Sign

A Poem by Marni A. K.

In the Reading Terminal Market,
There are many peculiar signs.
“Make Milk, Live Longer”
“Raw Fish Will Make You Live Longer”
But there is one in particular,
A sticker
Stuck on the wall
Of an African craft shop.
Black letters slapped onto a yellow circle,
Like a warning sign on the roadside,
But with a more disturbing tone:
“Shoplifters will be beaten to death.”

Sounds like a plan to me.

I like the sign about unattended children.
