Hornets

Hornets

A Poem by Marni A. K.

What started as 1 flying around the emergency call box,

Quickly became

2,

3,

4.

They are always there in the day,

Swarming near anyone who walks by.

Their mammoth size and wide yellow and black

Stripes.

5!

“Stop multiplying!”

My creative writing teacher from this summer said it reminded her of the movie The Crows, by Alfred Hitchcock. The lines are supposed to be all over the page but I'm having trouble doing that on here, so try to imagine that.

Lovely little short poem. It reminds me of my summer trips to my grandparents. They own a large farm and there we hornets near one of their buildings. I remember stirring them up and running several yards to escape their never ending numbers. Thank you so much for reminding me of my childhood. Overall: Good Job!
