A Poem by Andrea Greene
"

Some (5) poems from the past few days. Not all of them, due to my remaining pride.

"
--------------

I don't even know what I did
To elicit such a soft voice
From him

But whatever it was,
Could he tell me
So I could do it over again?

--------------

I think my epiphany here is because
People older and wiser than us
Spend songs and novels and lifetimes
Searching for the things we already seem to have
For a love with the same traits

Indeed, I am the luckiest.

--------------

On other topics, less discussed,
Although not without reason,
Being specifically that there's so much else
So many pressing matters to discuss
Still it remains, slightly less pressing,
It simply cannot be denied that I am dating
The most handsome man in the entire world

And to shut down comparisons and objections
He may make upon hearing it
His simple gestures,
Bright and quiet smiles,
Brilliant as the night sky eyes
The perfect shoulder to lean on and oh,
Really just everything,
Kind of sort of stops my heart completely

And it's not like he tries, like I know others do,
He's effortless, and subtle,
And stunning

And I don't know how much of it my heart is able to keep handling.

--------------

fine
okay

I'm aware I've been putting on flannels as much as I can
not because it reminds me of him when I've got nothing else
or anything like that

--------------

I wonder,
When they walk past us,
Do they know we're in love?

Did they see my quick,
Determined and frustrated pace

And you walking behind me, apparently trying to catch up?

Did they see our intersection,
My look of recognition,
The laughter and my thinly disguised
Heart melting from the inside slowly out?

Did they see two people,
One tall and one slightly less,
Did they see two friends?
Two strangers with perfect conversation,
Perhaps two people falling in love,
Did they know?
Who knows?

--------------

It's kind of
Improbable?
Inexplicable?
Beautiful!

Being this lucky and loved all at once
I didn't know it was possible!

Author's Note

Andrea Greene
5 poems for the price of 1!
Heaven knows I've got more, but having "A,A,AABODIMNHM" (it's a thing I promise) sitting awkwardly at the most recent of my writing felt sort of odd, when I had so much writing I'd done. So, have these. And a lovely day.

I think being wise has less to do with age than we think it does.

I forget who asked this question … "if you had to start over would you rather be 85 and rich or 18 and poor?"... but this poem(s) reminded me of that question.

For 5 different poems this isn't really at all disjointed.

Good work doll face.
