Wish You Were HereA Poem by Andrea GreeneI'm running on no sleep and love for my breathtaking boyfriend that I love with all my heart so naturally, poetry
Over the last few days I've seen a million beautiful things
Monets and Rembrandts and monuments and sunsets with colors so rich and brilliant You drink them in like the first and final sip of tea And remember them like the following slow sighs But with the sights come the thoughts of you And how far away you are And if you were close, in this moment, I could take your arm and experience this pillar-and-garden-filled wonderland with you Which, even as a thought, makes me so temporarily content that I look next to me Seeing an empty space in the sidewalk where you could be And tulips, there are always tulips here And so I look ahead to going back to a considerably smaller town Losing sunrises and starlight over the Washington monument But seeing you and being with you I look forward to it the most. Simply put, darling, I love you. © 2018 Andrea GreeneAuthor's Note
