 Characters:

Narrator

Giant

Knight

King

Guards (2)

(the setting is a forest)

(narrator enters)

Narrator:  Once upon a time, in a vast forest, a friendly giant lived.  Now, the inhabitants of a kingdom far away from the forest found this giant to be quite frightening.  The king sent out heroic knights to slay the monster (emphasise this with quotation fingers) All of them were slain by a dragon.  Well, not all.  One still survived...

(narrator exits)

(Giant enters, humming happily)

Giant: It's a wonderful day to pick sunberries!  I think i'll go harvest them.

(Giant exits, still humming.)

(Knight enters right, waving his sword around)

Knight: Where is this giant?  I hope I don't get eaten by that dragon.

(Giant enters left with a basketful of berries and sees the knight.)

Knight: (waving his sword feircly at the giant) Prepare to meet your match, Giant!

Giant: Oh!  Guests!  Do you want some sunberries?  Ah!  I could make you a sunberry pie!

(Knight looks confused.)

Giant: This is so exciting!  Come inside!

(Knight, still looking confused, follows the giant.)

(both exit right)

(narrator enters left)

Narrator: They talked for hours while munching on sunberry pie.  The knight hadn't expected this at all.

(Narrator exits right)

(Giant and knight enter left)

Giant: So, in your kingdom, everyone thinks I'm a beast?

Knight: I'm afraid so.

Knight: I shall go tell them it is not so!

(knight exits right)

Giant: I hope the citizens in his kingdom are fair.

(Giant exits left, eating berries)

(lights dim, setting changes to castle)

(guards enter left and stand guard)

(king enters left)

King: Oh!  Here comes one of my brave knights!  Victorious, I hope.

(Knight enters left, guards let him pass)

Knight: The giant is friendly!

King: Pardon me?

Knight: The giant from the forest is friendly!

(king laughs, knights look at each other and start laughing too)

King: I think the giant must have bonked you on the head when you were fighting him.

(giant enters left)

(giant carefully pushes guards out of his path.)

Giant: Brave Knight!  Have you told them yet?

King: Capture him!

(guards grab giant)

Giant: Wait!  I'm friendly!  Here, have some sunberries!

(tosses berries towards king)

Knight: He's telling the truth!

King: Right, of course he is.  Take him away.

Knight: If this giant was really a killer, he would have killed me by now!

King: (thinking) Yes... You're right, I suppose.... Alright, let him go!

Giant: Thank you, sir!

(narrator enters)

Narrator: And they all lived happily ever after.

All: The End!
