Caught Between Faith and Doubt

Caught Between Faith and Doubt

A Poem by J. Land
"

Who do you blame?

"
Caught between faith and doubt
Two sides of the same coin
I approach the Mercy Seat
Wondering if mercy is meaningless

Where is mercy for the children
Abandoned at the city dump?
I question from my recliner
A world away from Tegucigalpa

And those disfigured by bombs
In Ashkelon and Gaza born
The radio explains while I
In my Lexus complain about the traffic

I rest my knee in prayer
(Or frustration?)
To seek solace in penance
Or pride in my enlightened disbelief

And search earth and heaven
For the Hand of God
That doesn't intervene
While raising my remote to change one more channel

A very intriguing theme. The terror and inhumanity that we come across in this word questions our faith in justice of God.. i liked the poem because of the factual touch. Well done :)
