Caught Between Faith and DoubtA Poem by J. LandWho do you blame?Caught between faith and doubt Two sides of the same coin I approach the Mercy Seat Wondering if mercy is meaningless Where is mercy for the children Abandoned at the city dump? I question from my recliner A world away from Tegucigalpa And those disfigured by bombs In Ashkelon and Gaza born The radio explains while I In my Lexus complain about the traffic I rest my knee in prayer (Or frustration?) To seek solace in penance Or pride in my enlightened disbelief And search earth and heaven For the Hand of God That doesn't intervene While raising my remote to change one more channel
