Night Covers

A Chapter by J. Land
"

For the night...

"

Night covers the land
Like a blanket
Filled with holes that
Falls just short of
Keeping out the cold

Lamps and lights and lanterns
Pierce and permeate its
Now less persistent dim
Silently tucking the earth into
Troubled sleep discontent

Unable to witness the beautiful arc
Falling into imperfect dark

Some relish when the cloak of night falls, it's mysterious, seductive, even sexy in its own right; it parallels 'us' as people, society, and mentality. An enjoyable read, the only suggestion I would make would be lamps and lights and lanterns line, though this was written without punctuation, so the double 'and' is needed, so I'm not too sure what to recommend.
