Some relish when the cloak of night falls, it's mysterious, seductive, even sexy in its own right; it parallels 'us' as people, society, and mentality. An enjoyable read, the only suggestion I would make would be lamps and lights and lanterns line, though this was written without punctuation, so the double 'and' is needed, so I'm not too sure what to recommend.

It's the curse of being an English teacher who writes poetry. I can't help but clog things up with rhetorical devices. As always, I appreciate your comments and observations.
