The Old Lady Sat

The Old Lady Sat

A Poem by J. Land
"

I responded to a photograph of an abandoned school building by writing this poem

"

The old lady sat broken and empty
A melancholy shell longing for former glory
Bushes growing wildly along her walls
Reminding her of wild imaginations
Laughing through her halls
Stepping down her long staircase
Minds full, hearts buoyed, dreams at the ready.

But her halls fell silent, sunk into the street
Subsumed in the landscape of those
Abandoned, like the dreams that formerly
Emerged from the cocoons of creativity
Woven inside her now vacant rooms.

Has a spirit that many people know loneliness that grows on the elderly in old folks homes. empty houses well preserved with memories of days gone by naked halls where once family met for dinner and laughter but no more the old lady sat lonely and blue Hope next time its not me or you. Have a heart care for the elderly.

LOVE IT!!

I mean, really, what do I say to that? It was perfectly written!

It leaves you with two thoughts: aging and dreams left unattained or behind!

Again, I just loved it!

Warm Regards,
xoxo

My pleasure!
It's bland and doesn't seem to say anything much. Intriguing degree of banality for an English teacher.
