Ch. 17 There's Something About WillA Chapter by theladygraceling
I met Will
when we were both eight years old, and he was missing his two front teeth, and I was taller than him, and his shoes still had Velcro, and I still wore my hair in pigtails. He had just moved into the house next door. I had watched the movers earlier that day carry in furniture and boxes, and watched the little boy in the driveway playing with his toy cars. Johnny had gone up and talked to him immediately, with that that Johnny charm, and began playing with those toy cars too. But I was too scared, and nervous, and shy to go too. The first time we met, he was sitting outside with a tiny, blue, plastic telescope. He held out his hand for me to shake, like the politest eight year old ever. But I just stared at his hand and didn't take it. "What are you doing?" I asked. "I'm waiting." "Why?" "Because I want to see the stars." "Why?" "Because I like them." "Why?" "You ask too many questions." It was a brand new experience for me. No one had ever told me I was talking too much. But there's something about Will that makes everything E X T R A O R D I N A R Y. © 2014 theladygracelingAuthor's Note
