Chasing Windmills I - Fire, Fire

Chasing Windmills I - Fire, Fire

A Poem by theklauz

What isn't there is there, burning, burning, my world.
Dream of life, dream of dream, which is which, which am I?
Drowning in reality, or is that desire? Fire, fire.
Chasing windmills, eyes aflame, never again will be the same.

I enjoy the Quixotic references to windmills, as well as the repetition towards the immolation of the writer and his/her world. I think all and all this is a pretty solid piece for what it is; a brief click of the shutter on an individual who is confused, imagining and a bit off.
Each line works well on it's own, and when put together there isn't very much dissonance, merely because the poem itself is clicked and clacked together, so it works. The only line that I'm getting stuck on is "Never again will be the same" because it's a terribly typical way to end a poem, or even to have a line like that in. With how solid the rest of the piece is, this line seems like the sore thumb.

A very enjoyable read, I must say.
