The Very Thought of YouA Poem by Keara Anne
There we’ll be. Strolling
in the park, holding hands. Enjoying the company of one another, laughing ‘til we’re out of breath. There we’ll be. Sitting in front of a fire on a cold night, snuggling together. Sitting in contentment and never needing more. There we’ll be. You in black, me in white. We’ll kiss and they’ll applaud. We’ll make speeches to one another, declaring our everlasting love. There we’ll be. Fighting over whose turn it was to do the dishes. Making up, knowing that what we have won’t be broken so easily. There we’ll be. Staying up all night with the crying. Teaching our children how to ride a bike, how to spell. Reading them stories at night. There we’ll be. In the stands, cheering when they cross that stage. Helping them move into their dorms and find their way around their new home. There we’ll be. Old and wrinkly, but still together. Making jokes and sitting together on a porch, laughing over fond memories. Smiling when grand-kids come. There we’ll be. And I can’t wait to be there with you. © 2013 Keara Anne |
