My Jacket

My jacket is dark gray 

It zips down the middle 

The inside is lined with fur 

And strings pull the hood closed 

My jacket is warm 

And comfortable 

And, most important, 

It is familiar

It held me at night

Hugged me while I cried

Sent away my frights

Soft, cozy, and kind

It's collected my tears

Kept out my fears

Helped in such away

That is hard to explain

It covered up my lines

bleeding scars from all the times

that I claimed I way fine

Then tried to take my life

In the left pocket is Mea's poem

That I read when I'm on my own

I wrap up in Val's blanket

so I don't feel so alone

My jacket has kept me warm

in an uncountable number of ways

It kills me to think that I

Will outgrow it someday
