MY LOCAL

 

Yes here

In this place of cheer

Where drinks and emotions flow

Where the lighter side of us doth show

 

Yes here protected by walls

The most stern of us reduced to drunken fools

This is our stage, our house of fun

Where everyday pressures come undone

 

Conversations flow

With those we don’t know

When during the day

They would just walk past my way

 

Yes here

In this place of cheer

We seem to drop our guard

Our fears and inhibitions we discard

 

Outside any mistakes could leave friendships rotten

In here, come morning, it’s all forgotten

This is my pub, my holy ground

Where escape from life is easily found

 

For in here there is no pressure, no stress

Good bless the alcohol for helping me forget that my life’s a mess

So for those finding happiness in here

Give me a cheer for the beer

Makes me think of the locals here in town. Same folk at the tavern 24/7. Drinking their life away. It's a shame really. I approve of moderation. We all need a little something every now and then to help with stress and what not. But for some, it's a way of life. It's not just a hang-out, it's their home. lol
