Coffee Shop Blues

Coffee Shop Blues

A Poem by Mark Anthony Games (Human Voice)

I take a seat by the window to watch the world

I am crying my heart out in silence,

Listening to the words of Tracy Chapman
Another day over and still no sign of love

I have walked through another city

Walked down streets I never knew existed

Yet still have received no smiles or double glances

I am here in this coffee shop alone

Around me couples hold hands and friends talk

I sit here restraining tears, telling my heart to hold on

No one knows me here, I am unborn again

I am searching for deliverance

Though I know tomorrow I will still be waiting

Plenty more coffee shop blues left to come

Plenty more rhythmic tears left to fall

To the sound of sad songs in a coffee shop
