Memento

Memento

A Poem by Sara Henry Heistand
"

Sorry, it had to happen.

"

I stole a photo of you

it faded into the box of all the rest.

i had to scrape it out

with a thumbnail.

The dust unyielding

Gummy with age or something less eternal

Scarred from its holdings and

Scared of its universe

I could have given it so much hope

Before you walked in the room.
