She Floats

She Floats

A Poem by Sara Henry Heistand
"

Once more, with feeling!

"

She floats through her days

            touching nothing

            smiling prettily

            waving down her caper.

a drunken whisper

a voice so hoarse

even the galaxies

            lean into her breath.

eyes dulled by the edges

they glisten with theory

consumed by heat

consumed by light

bearing the atmosphere

for the life erratic

she floats through

            a crowded tunnel

realistic betrayal

tapping fingers on the wheel

to the static in the air

eyes dulling the

            yellow, gaseous light

to that willful tune.

She’ll float when

nothing is so trivial

when the dark things crawl

in from the rain, captured

by the light.

About
It's been a while since I've written (over half a year?) and it's time for me to start up again. My life's back on the right track and now I have the time and the emotional capacity. So on with it. .. more..
