[Didn't] Want

[Didn't] Want

A Poem by Sara Henry Heistand
"

That's what she said.

"

Stems snapped in my fist

like spines

Petals peppered the ground

like beads

       of blood

you need to stop enjoying this

I didn’t want to make love to your face

I just wanted to take my belt off and

hurt you.

I didn’t want to get to know you

I just wanted to make something

out of that stare and

I didn’t want to be a mess

I just wanted you for that second

            and you’re busy

            rolling back your eyes

            placating yourself

I guess I should be doing that

you really need to stop enjoying this

the flower can only take so much

Ha, i really like this. I idea of the flower makes it seem like its on a different subject. At first i though when you said "I didn't want to make love to your face" and about breaking stems, i thought someone was getting oral in the woods!
But nice piece, i enjoyed it.

In this poem, I think we, as humans, can be bent and broken. Beautiful symbolism. Heartfelt words!!!
