I'm Not Falling With You

I'm Not Falling With You

A Poem by Solis-Lopez
"

for the betrayal contest mr. lopez made ^--^

"

I look at the world around me,

   rather, my world,

   and see it all falling.

I look up at the sun that used to be my sun,

now growing cold and black before my very eyes.

I want it to just hurry up and turn black,

   but it feverishly lives on,

   showing heart-breaking attempts

at trying to be a bright sun

like it was once upon a time.

But I look closely at the sun and realize,

   nothing's changed;

it has always been a darkening orb,

the only reason it looked bright

was because it hadn't let me know

   it was dying,

hadn't let me known that it was slowly stabbing me

   in my back

   over and

   over

   and over again.

So I sit here now and I finally come up with a good thought,

the first good thought I've had in a while:

You know what? Go ahead, fall.

It looks like that's all you want to do because the others that you love are falling, too. You can fall,

ok? I won't bother you about the falling anymore.

I won't make you feel bad anymore,

I won't hurt you anymore by letting you know

that the falling is hurting me.

Just one other thing I have to let you know,

before you finally take the last plummet,

   right before my very eyes,

right in front of both my eyes and the other sad flower beside me,

(and I have to say I think he thinks he'll be doing the same thing)

I'm not falling with you, ok?

I like how your anger was described as a rant towards our very sun. It gives the poem a sense of us trying to maintain power things we know we can't control. Maybe it was just me. :) Keep writing.

I really enjoyed this poem - very original & symbolic take on not leting someone else bring you down with their problems. (: I love the idea of the sun constantly fading, though it's only recently that you realize it. This poem captures so many different emotions. A very enjoyable, poetic rant. Loved it! ^___^
