The Promise of a Maybe

The Promise of a Maybe

A Poem by Angelstears

The promise of a maybe,

feelings of a man once bitten twice shy-

you gave to me.

Look at me and see

that I don’t want to be kissed with a guilty sigh.

The promise of a maybe.

See me smiling so nonchalantly

but you will never see me cry.

You gave me

a hope that something could be,

that we could be together, untouched by the world passing us by.

The promise of a maybe.

I touch you so gently,

you want but won’t take " why?

You gave me

the desire to be free

to love you " for your attention I constantly vie.

The promise of a maybe

He gave me.

This is my first review, and it is one that I won't soon forget. Your user name was the reason for my initial curiosity, but I decided on this poem because I was intrigued by the title. I enjoy the play on words and the vagueness. It is the perfect blend of knowing where you are coming from but also being able to relate to one's own situation. I love it...looking forward to more of your work.
