If Walls Had Ears

If Walls Had Ears

A Poem by Angelstears

The things I hear, the things I see.

If only you knew that I could hear you;

surely you would not talk so freely?

Surely you would be more reserved?

-Oh the things I have seen

                       the stories I could tell.

Time passes yet I remain.

I hear the laughter and the joy.

I hear the moans of pleasure,

the sighs of delight stolen in the night.

The heartfelt compliments,

the irritated complaints " two-faced!

I hear the screams, the rage, and the arguments.

I hear the tears, the sobs, and the cries.

Time passes yet I remain.

You are in pain, heartbroken,

you feel my sympathy; look straight at me,

no-one is there; you are alone.

But I am here, ever present.

I watch you as you live your life,

I watch you as you sleep but can never protect you.

Time passes yet I remain.

Very unique and interesting concept. At first I sort of felt as though if walls could hear us and watched us it would be scarey. But the way you described it made them seem caring and longing. Really beautiful.
