Dark ShadowA Poem by A. J. KingsleyIt will always follow.
Even as I sprint with weary legs to escape, I still feel the breath on the back of my neck.
Through every attempt to hide my pounding heart reveals my hiding place. No disguise has ever worked, as I recreate myself I am still found. This creature, it learns how to hunt me. Every spot of sunlight in my life is a new shadow it can cast. There are only two places where it won't follow me. The light. In all it's radiant glory, enveloping me in a haven where the darkness may not touch. Or I give in... Fall back into the darkness, let it drown me in the void. Maybe then the beast will finally rest.
