The Possession You Call LoveA Poem by A. J. KingsleyThe vicious cycle of abusive relationships
You say you love me, but the poison you spew tells me otherwise
You say that you care, but the ringing in my ears proves you wrong. You call me precious, but the pieces of my heart across the floor show your lies. You watch in silence as I kill myself for you. You proclaim my inadequacy as I lie sobbing. You corrupt all I hold dear, and use it to further crush my spirit. You make me hate myself, blame myself, hurt myself. You hold me close and say you love me. You trap me once again.
