Beauty By The Window

Beauty By The Window

A Poem by A. Highly. Addictive. Substance.

"Beauty By The Window"

With nothing but a gentle breeze,
Holding hands with the summer sun,
You lay your head upon the window sill,
Dreaming of wars you wish you'd won.

Your green eyes pierce through the crowd,
Frantically searching for some reason,
And amidst all the madness,
Your heart cries when you see them.

You clench your toes, showing pain,
You wish your mind would shut down,
You pound your fist with such rage,
Tears fall like raindrops to the ground.

Why must they laugh while you cry?
Why must they kiss within your sight?
Do they have to show their joy?
Must he hold her hand so tight?

You force your eyes to change focus,
Leaving the lovers far behind,
Once again, you gaze alone,
Accepting tragedy as life.
