PianoA Poem by thefemalebardI just received a letter saying this poem will be published by United press in an anthology, so I thought I would share (:
The black and white keys of the piano
only require the lightest of touches and they spill out their souls they sing us their sorrows they told him he was sick, he played the piano his wife cried along to the humble tune when he forgot she reminded him, when he forgot again, she reminded him again he forgot their grandchildren, he forgot the date she told him of sweet Lucy, to the tune of his love he forgot about their children, he even forgot their wedding through it all she would remind him, as the keys revealed the song in his heart one day he sat at the piano, but his mind had been stolen his wife knew it had gone too far, something too precious was taken his fingers did not know what to do; they paused above with tears in his eyes she lost her husband that day, the keys were never pressed again. © 2015 thefemalebard |
