A Truth

A Truth

A Poem by T. K. Sjostrom

Have you ever known a time when you knew you were not going to die?

I tried getting struck by lightning standing at the center of a soccer field,

With a golf club raised high in a Texas thunder storm.

And now I'm paralyzed from the neck down.

I will consider myself dead and accept the fact that I was wrong.

A sad story this would be had it ended this way,

But I'm no vegetable.

I go about my daily life as a cashier.

A sad story it still is.

However, I have gained insurmountable trust in my detection for death or lack there of.
