Have A Nice Eulogy

Have A Nice Eulogy

A Poem by Nannon
"

A poem for smokers. Free verse, a bit dark.

"

Am I the only one who's noticed
Cancer smells like ashtrays?
And ashtrays are a cacophony of
Gag-me gorgeous oh-so pretty and
ohmygodcanyouimaginethatinyourlungs?
Chasing up crimson butterflies that taste
Like death and copper
And I'm watching you inhale your doom
Whispering lipstick-lined prayers to a
God of death and ashes
With a silly little mantra only for his ears.

Author's Note

Nannon
I prefer fixed poetry to free verse, though there are types of it I like. This was a dabble in that pool, I suppose.
