Deadly Sin

Deadly Sin

A Poem by Nannon
"

A poem with heavy influences from Plath and Poe. ABAB rhyme scheme.

"

Pride and arrogance took my father
A vice he surely gave me
A man without wife, son, or daughter
A man who loved only the sea

Pride and arrogance took my father
A man who took none under wing
Foolishly, he fell out of favor
With a cruel and hardened king

Pride and arrogance took my father
But so did his love for me
He was a man unfairly slaughtered
In a war not meant for he

Author's Note

Nannon
Idea inspired by Sylvia Plath's " Lament", and the rhyme scheme and stuff was inadvertently taken from Poe's " Annabel Lee"

Or at least, I am reminded of it.

This had impact. I think if I havent read poems and stuff before and this was my first poem that I have ever read then it probably would change my life. Because it is soo deep. Is this based off of real life events? I myself love Edgar Allen Poe. I hate it when people say " Lovely piece " or "Great write " or " Good write ". Stuff like that so Im not gonna do that.
THAT ROCKED!

Very nice.
I myself am I fan of Plath and Poe alike, even though my writing is mostly freestyle. Your work labeled as "inspired" by these artists is a nice tribute; your rhyme scheme flows well and your words are simple, yet powerful. Thank you for sharing. Very lovely piece.
