Darcy: Dear FerryA Poem by ChloeOne of three pieces for my final writing workshop project.
Dear Ferry: The wind blows against my face as I board. Schoolkids pile on, crushing, as I make my way to the middle of you, intent on my afternoon snack. It will be busy, but I’ve beat the line. Your din swallows my ears like my coat swallows my body. You are the only place I feel alone: among the kids and tired adults, with the cook calling my name, the line forming behind me. I am in between, no adult and no child. I have no friends here to accompany me on your too-long dalliance on the water. There is no place for me here on you. So I tune everyone out: headphones in, stars on my hidden shirt, no love in my heart for the strangers in your crowd. © 2009 ChloeFeatured Review
