Love

Love

A Poem by Whispering Pines
"

This is a poem about two people who fall in love, but are forced apart by war.

"

Love I.

The Beginning

A feeling

Of great warmth

Fills heart and head.

Excitement

Breathing faster,

Soft lips on others.

A walk

In the woods,

The birds sing loud.

A hand,

Slips into another

Shyness falls away.

A smile,

An embrace of strong feeling

Leaves one feeling warm.

Love II.

War

An embrace,

Sadness fills both hearts,

Footsteps fall away.

An emptiness,

Longing for a letter,

Written in the hand known so well.

A tear,

Fallen on a pillow,

Remembering the love they shared.

A smile,

Across the sea,

He remembers her laugh.

A gunshot,

The pain in his leg,

He’s going to lose it.

Love III.

Home

A cheer,

He’s getting sent home,

Away from the filth and the pain.

A letter,

She receives,

Saying he’s been hit.

A cry,

Echoing the halls,

Her heart is torn in two.

A taxi,

In front of the house,

She wonders who it could be.

A face,

A face she knows,

Seen in her dreams, and in her heart.

A cry,

Of joy and love,

Echoes down the street.

An embrace,

Shared by two who love,

They will never come apart.
