I use first person pronouns because even though I'm obviously disgusted by these things they are essentially mine as well. As a human they are still a part of me.

How can I say that I am better?

I created a world from the earth

But I destroyed it by my greed

I manufactured healing and relief

But I created a far worse disease

 

How can I say that I am better?

From the empty chaos I created law

But it means little as criminals run free

I declared that God gave me the earth

But I raped then discarded all I saw

 

 How can I say that I am better?

I gave value to preserving life

But only if that life was useful to me

I created a way to share knowledge

But I used this to destroy my rights

 

How can I say that I am better?

How can I say I’m civilized?

As I kill and maim other species

I benefit from their pain

A necessary evil

My right as a human

 

How can I say that I am better?

How can I say I’m civilized?

As I kill my own species

I say it’s justified

 

Herded like sheep

To their deaths

 

To our deaths

 

To my death
