Farther and Farther Away

I wrote this when I was in a placement. It's about this girl that I had really strong feelings for. Unfortunately, when I got back everything had changed...

I miss you more than I can say,
We've been apart forever and a day.
If only I could see you,
It would give me strength to get through.

It's been too long since I said, "I love you"
But I hope I may continue to.
If I were knocking at Death's door,
To see you is all I'd ask for.

Not a day goes by without you,
Running through my mind.
All the time I am surrounded, suffocated, by idiocy around me,
The thought of returning to you is like a lighthouse by the stormy sea.

I wonder if you think about me,
Do you see my name I'm the branches of a tree?
Do you wonder where I've been?
Or has my name been forgotten?

I will always love you,
No matter what you do.
But if you forget about me, that's okay,
I'll just find a nice quiet spot to wither away.
