Death at Dawn

Death at Dawn

A Poem by Rachel K.

Patient expectation,
Shallow breath rattled thy lungs.
Thy hollow'd mind reduced to infantry,
Death hastens.
Be at peace, Elder Man!
Dawn draws ever so near!
Alas! Breaking light outbursts
Silent beauty of night,
In shattering brilliance!
Thy soul slips to eternal rest.
