Ivy LeavesA Poem by Ryan M. JamesWritten for the "A Thousand Words" contestOur homes of stone they slowly weave Return the world to Gaia's green So many visions left unseen From beyond the walls of the up-most tower An image of timeless mortal power The gods of time we'll truly be Yet unforseen thy love for thee Protect my soul from holy fire Escort me to my one desire The fear of death does not contest My only fear to not confess For now he leaves like Winters' Fall And as with seasons, known by all To his Love the patient trial Wanting, Waiting for his arrival. As nights darkness slowly creeps Into her pillow she softly weeps For every hour tears at her heart The years drift by they are apart As mornings light warms ivy leaves Our homes of stone they slowly weave Return the world to Gaia's green So many visions left unseen © 2014 Ryan M.
