The Days of Lovers Ways

The Days of Lovers Ways

A Poem by Ryan M. James

long gone Are days of Lover's ways
drowned shrieking silence of crashing Waves
And gaze i will where once she laY
the tear that falls crieS "come what may".
that final sigh heard by oneself
that Longing for what once i felt
again i plea wIth my own soul
to take thIs pain.. to make me whole.
for begging seems the only choice
my all is in these words, this Voice
upon the alter of my own mind
a prayer i offer to timeless timE.
take from me now this weak desire,
these fleeting wishes of love conspired,
I offer my self my soul my all,
head bowed defeat, kNees kiss the floor.
how many cross this bridge alone
how many write these sacred tomes
it seems in Love there hides a truth
a blessing disguised curse misconstrue.
so far we fall from mortal sense
until we're left with no defence
within Ourselves a battle rages
a glimpse of this found in these pages.
forever more are Victims made
memories flow where lovers played
the faithful held close by their side
in doing so new life denied.
so what is love if not a curse?
the fleeting whisps of dust from Earth
what happened to timeless romance?
like those celestial bodies that eternally dance.
