Happier Now

Happier Now

A Poem by thatmissouriguy

Last night, you asked me if I ever
Missed the simple life I had
Before we were together
I answered "Maybe just a tad."
I mostly miss my family
Getting to see them every day
Game nights, spook lights, laughing
But that was all before "I'm gay."
When I met you and decided
To tell them who I really was
I knew I would be giving up
A part of me I loved
But as you're sleeping next to me
Your hand upon my chest
I know, for sure, without a doubt
I am so very blessed
You love me unconditionally
For who I really am
And I can't imagine life
Without you, my love, my man
Ever since we started dating
Six short months ago tomorrow
My life is just as great as ever
But something's better, no more sorrow
You see, before, even though I loved
The simple life I had
Living it I knew I'd never find
A man, true love, so I'm glad
I love my man with all my heart
And I've never been more happy
I just hope that you don't bust my chops
For posting something, well, super sappy
Here's to the next six months and more
To many a happy day
As long as you are by my side
There is no other way
