Colored Clear

Colored Clear

A Poem by Austin Harvill
"

The color of MY skin, made it after the inauguration of Obama

"

I am a clear man with no outside tints
I am a clear man who wants to give his two cents

I am clear, so you can see my true soul
I am clear, so let my words take a hold

I am see through, no facades mask my meaning
I am see through, my words could never be cheating

You can throw insults this way in that
But you can see through me, see their impact

Words against me, for any such reason,
Strike against humanity, they are practically treason

Degrade me or lift me up, I don't care
I bask in a light we all should share

May the light be bright, or may it be dim,
We should all bask within, sing the same hymn

You call me what you want, I still won't hear
Because you see, my brother, I am colored clear

This really reminds me of the song "Mr. Cellophane" from the musical "Chicago." I liked it a lot! Where do you draw your inspiration from?
