"Reasons"...

This is a rough draft of a poem that will be in my next book. This is an incomplete "freestyle" version....thanks

“Reasons”…

 

In his famous 1784 essay What Is Enlightenment?, Immanuel Kant described it as follows:

 

“Enlightenment is man's release from his self-incurred tutelage. Tutelage is the incapacity to use one's own understanding without the guidance of another. Such tutelage is self-imposed if its cause is not lack of intelligence, but rather a lack of determination and courage to use one's intelligence without being guided by another.

Kant reasoned that although a man must obey in his civil duties, he must make public his use of reason. His motto for enlightenment is Sapere aude! or "Dare to know." * wikipedia

 

 

In my blood vessel I feel the DNA of past spirits who now sleep.
I felt the fluid of life through their silent screams

At times, these screams are transmitted through my pillows
Rotating within each heartbeat are the thumps of my consciousness

Like water flowing off a mountain, or
Rain that pours from tired clouds…I hold on to logic
The liquids of birth stormed through my veins
The flat-line was no more…I hold on to reason
I couldn't see the tunnel of darkness

There was light
There was vision
The stream felt stronger and flowed with-

Nutrients and Vitamins
Hope and Desire
I simply felt…alive

 

I am alive

Ancient paragraphs allow tears to follow those same streams

I must obey what is truly deep within…
