EXTINCTION

EXTINCTION

A Poem by KCthelastboyscout
"

we will not surrender

"
They came without warning
Strange Invaders far from home
We welcomed them in peace
A request was made for replenishments for their dying world
We provided what they needed
They insisted taking more
We objected...
They attacked

And so war began between our world and the visitors
Day and night turning into weeks, now becoming months
A violent campaign begins to escalate and both sides endure critical losses
Although we are many and they are few, they are resilient and more so, desperate

As the war begins to dissipate, our victories multiply
The visitors are overmatched and depleted
We are all united and victory is at hand
WE WILL NOT BE CONQUERED
WE WILL NOT BE VANQUISHED
A message of defiance will echo around our planet...
DEATH TO THE HUMAN INVADERS
GO BACK TO EARTH

The lessons are yet to be learned; always we seek more, take at will with little thought to the consequences.

One day we might well reach the stars, let us hope by then, that we have learned.

Beccy.
