GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRYA Poem by KCthelastboyscoutInspired by the Bob Dylan song
I prefer to think of her in winter
Dark-haired and lovely I can see her eyes in the distance even in falling snow Like glowing diamonds shining through Look towards the skies and see the birds flying south The reign of long, dark nights begin Follow the footsteps on the ground and they will lead you to a broken soul She is a lone wolf separated from the pack She is no longer concerned with keeping in the company of others How I wish she would follow the light of my flame My embrace would warm the coldness of her heart But this is an unanswered prayer The first of many more to come... The rare occasions she was seen in public view are now gone She has disappeared from sight The exchange of seasons is now complete and winter is no more Spring has arrived and the birds have returned to sing outside my window I await for her return as well... © 2018 KCthelastboyscoutAuthor's Note
