DAYDREAMING UNDER TEXAS SKIESA Poem by KCthelastboyscoutdaydreaming to keep your mind on the journey
God's favorite view
270,000 square miles wide Urban wonders of freeways and skyscrapers Dirt roads and highways Lakes and countryside Days and nights on the trail Miles away from the past, I think of you Wild at heart Wild in spirit Untamed In the quiet moments you revealed your soul to me Quietly Gently Willingly I remember seeing you carefree running through fields of bluebonnets Picnics under pecan trees Skinny dipping at the river So long ago... Memories or dreams? The trail comes to an end at sunset My life on the open range also close to dark Tonight the fire is warm for old bones I'm hopeful for a long rest Home is an afterthought It's the journey that carries me forward In the morning the sun will rise A new day will shine upon a new trail A good horse will lead me on Lost love will remain in my heart until the last ride © 2018 KCthelastboyscoutAuthor's Note
