I LOVE FOOD! (and it's killing me)

Love food? Me too! How can anyone live without it? We NEED it! Until... "We hope when you read this you will laugh, but seriously..."

I LOVE  FOOD!

(and it's killing me)

Poem by KCthelastboyscout

Format & Editing by SachikoMochiko

Burgersfrieshot dogsnachos

Tex-Mex foodespecially tacos,

Hardee's and Arby's Jack in the Box

KFC Popeye's and definitely Wingstop

Pizza supreme with EXTRA cheese,

add buffalo wings if you please

Snickers, Kit Kats, Reese's and Twix,

Aint a better combo than chocolate-caramel mix?

Pepsi, coke and other carbonated flavours

And multiple assorted Kool-Aid fruit flavours…

love seafood. What more can I say?

The joy of eating some kind of fish everyday

Lobster tail, crab, shrimp and cheese biscuits

Sometimes it's expensive, but worth it when I get it

love what I eat. Sometimes salad and soup

But most importantly of all, of course, the meat group

Pork chops, lamb noodles with veal cutlet

What a great idea!!! Chicken in a bucket

BBQ fried shake and bake

The wonders of poultry that you can make

pORTIONS are optional go small or go big

A variety to choose with the wonderful pig

unique type of animal you can mark for divides

Bacon, ham and sausage for breakfast sides

Oh, I almost forgot! What a mistake to make!

My favourite dish of all two sides and a steak

With mushrooms   and onions, cooked to medium rare

They say red meat's not healthy. Well, I don't care!

At last, I can mention my favourite food of all

Food off the grill, barbecue ya'll

Burgers, chicken links and don't forget the ribs

BBQ is best in Texas we learn from the cribs

But now I'm getting older, eating more than I SHOULD

I'm putting on too many POUNDS and my health's not very good

I'm weak when it comes to food how will this ever end?

I don't see food as a vice it's more like my best friend

Food can give me comfort and much more than I can tell

But now it's become my enemy and it's killing me as well

Diet and exercise, new style and attitude

Goodbye fructose, corn syrup and other processed food

But the hardest goodbye of all are to things that are fried

You can never be replaced even if I tried

So, this is the end…

just a few more words, 'cause I have no more to give

I no longer live to eat but now I eat to live

...and here's a meal exercising for you!:)

*Note to my beloved greasy and sweet food:

No matter what I'm doing to you now.

Abandoning you...Burning you out...Leaving you...

Ya'll know that I'll be coming back for you...

Just wait...I'll come charging at the fridge to save you!

Wow! Extraordinarily clever. Strangely, I'm no longer hungry. I think I just realized in one poem how food, and the fast food industry, truly dominates our lives--and not positively. You've brilliantly used humor to address a serious health issue, particularly in the United States. And, I love how you end with a new perspective ("eat to live"). Creative use of fonts and color, too. Nice work!

It was a humorous poem. You conveyed a good message to us.i also love food but after reading your poem I realised that I don't like it as much as I think

I am feeling the pain ...recently found out that I am extremely sensitive to certain food and they have been apparently killing me for quite a few years...who would have thought that corn, mushrooms, eggplant, lemons, and brown rice were harmful...just to name a few.

From the structuring, the rapid pace in the beginning and the rather abrupt slowing down and sluggishness as you realize all that wonderful food isn't really your friend, or at least not a good friend. More like the friend who gets you to party until you puke. The cheese biscuits were kind of a surprise after all that seafood and now I'm craving them, thank you very much and I cried out, "Barbecue, ya'll" and got...this look from my son. What an amazing, exhausting ride. After overcoming morbid obesity, it is definitely relateable.

I really enjoyed this! It actually made me hungry! I've often been amazed how fortunate we are to have evolved with such a wide range of delicious foods-- after all, we might have been like horses, content to eat hay all day.
