Ah. But was it not God who inflicted the troubles on Job? Just testing him? Job saw it through and ended up in a very fine way. Definitely not a test for mankind's soul, I don't think. Pessimism can easily be changed round. best wishes to you.

Accurate though unfortunately. Collectively I fear the wicked ways are upon us; rather troublesome, given how far we believed we had come.

Torpor. 'a state of mental and motor inactivity with partial or total insensibility.' might best describe how we posture but do little against the evil that mankind has inflicted on this beautiful planet.
