Path of Desire

Path of Desire

A Poem by Tyler G
"

A reminder of what I want

"
I want to be loved, I want to be treasured.
I want what I feel to be tangibly measured.
The things that I want have been given from above,
and despite my complaints, when push comes to shove,
the effort I've put in just doesn't hold up.
These wants and desires, so shallowly based,
are stoked by the fires of things quick to be erased.
The paths of my peers made of silver and gold,
seem so different from mine, all withered and old.
Unaware of my blessings I stumble along,
and end up stressing over things that went wrong.
Perhaps when I'm older, and counting my hours,
I'll look back at this path a little closer,
and admire the flowers.

Take it from one who is older, the path behind is viewed differently than it was when you were treading it. Yes, admire the flowers, but learn to leave the briars behind.
PS: Do a spell check on the next to last word in line 3.
