Chapter 19

Hope Nightshade was a perfectly normal girl, one who happened to have a deadbeat dad that didn't even bother to send child support. Not that her mom needed it, she was ceo of Nightshade enterprises. She had her mother, her friends, and she had a pretty good life. She didn't need anything else. 

Her life came crashing down when she came home from school and her mother introduced an odd looking man who wore a scarlet colored shirt, jeans and his hair was pulled back. His name was Aubrey Quinn. Then her mom told her who her father really was. At first she didn't believe her mother, but when she repeated her fathers name, which she'd never even heard before, huge dove-like wings sprouted from her back. NOW she believed. Her father wasn't a deadbeat, he was a fallen angel.

"Now that you see what you are, we need to get you to safehouse 13," Aubrey stated.

"Why?'

"Because if Lilly finds you, she'll kill you, if she kills you then the entire world is screwed," He said with a smile.

"Why would she want to kill me?"

"Because of who you are."

"What? A freak of nature?"

"No. The Healer, The Angel-blood. One of the Nine."

"There are nine others like me?" Hope said picking up her purse, as if getting ready to find others of her kind.

"No, There are eight others like you. Would you care to meet them? One needs your help, she's unconscious, and her mate is getting very restless."

"She won't be going anywhere! She's my daughter, d****t!" Her mother yelled.

"Mom, I'll be back. I promise. But if someone needs my help, and these people can possibly teach me about being half...angel," She choked on her last few words " Then i have to go.' 

Hope packed her clothes, said goodbye to her mother and got into Aubreys' ford. She found a strangely handsome man hiding in the back seat. When she pointed him out to Aubrey he turned and said "Oh, Dex, Thank freaking god!" The man he called Dex sat up in the back seat.

"Aubrey! She's right behind me, can you try to drive like Jaz?"

"Lilly?"

"Hell ya, Go!"

It wasn't Lilly following them It was some of her henchmen and apparently Vampires existed because there was a whole lot of hissing, but it didn't sound like a human imitating a cat, it sounded real. 

When they had finally reached the safehouse after two days of driving, countless hours on a boat, and running into too many henchmen. Dex was Rushed into a hospital room and Hope was Led to the girl she was supposed to heal, Aubrey had said her name was Keller Jane Deveroux, Her mate's name Was Ash, and the girl by her bedside was her best friend Verra Mist La Fey- Who went by Mist. 

Hope braced herself for what she was about to do. But she was totally unprepared for what she saw when she entered the room.
