Chapter 13

Lilly had Keller pinned. She was going to die. I Have no choice. Ash thought to himself. Then he did what he had been trying to avoid. Keller, your part witch. No questions. Do as I say. Hold your hands up as if to keep Lilly from tearing out your throat. Don't cross your wrists. Feel all of your energy building up in your core and let it go through your hands.

Keller did as the disembodied voice of the dead man said, and the strangest thing happened. Flames shot from her hands. Then she blacked out.

Lilly was on fire. Literally. Flames tried to engulf her body. Lilly screamed at the fact that the little half breed mutt could attack her. And almost win. 

No matter, Lilly thought to herself, I have eight other half breeds to destroy. With that thought Lilly blinked from the flames and walked towards her dead cousin to claim her consolation prize.

Now. Ash jumped up, and killed the vampire who thought he had killed Ash. He heard a sharp intake of breath and turned towards his blonde cousin and began to stalk towards her, the second her started moving towards her she blinked and was gone.

A wisp of dark smoke was all that remained where Lilly stood just seconds ago. Good riddance.

That was stressf-

"Hey buddy, Ya gonna pick your woman up off the forest floor or are ya gonna make me carry her?" Gallens' soft voice rang through the silent forest, and the sounds began to pick up again as if a man didn't just die, or a fragile woman didn't just light his cousin aflame with her supernatural powers that she didn't know she had. For the first time since he began playing dead he looked over at Keller. She had sustained a few scratches and a bloody lip, other than that she looked fine. 

" I'll get her." Ash replied and moved towards Keller at an incredibly slow pace, limping from when the man had hit him in the leg with a piece of wood. It may be that only aspen wood scars but all wood hurts vampires and it takes about the same time to heal as it would take for a human. He picked her up and felt comfort in the fact that she was still breathing. Then he too blacked out.

"What an idiot! " A very tired Jazlyn yelled. She sighed and said " Aubrey you get Ash and I'll get the girl."

"Keller. Her name is Keller." Mist said from the back of the group, looking very tired.

"Verra? You okay?" Aubrey asked.

"I'll be fine I just need to get some - rest." And then just like clockwork she plopped to the ground. 

"Oh for crying out loud! Gallen get her." Jaz said Lifting the brunette of the ground. Gallen picked Mist up off the ground. "Aubrey you know the way to the safe-house, right?" 

" Yep, c'mon lets go." Aubrey replied.
